How to Care for Your Tattoo on the First Day

If you are having tattoo, you might consider going to a well known tattoo artist in order to get the best tattoo imprint. However, even the best tattoos can be ruined if proper care is not taken. After having a tattoo, you want it to look best for years to come but you need to take proper care of it. First allow it to heal properly and then take good care of your tattoo. In case of improper care of a tattoo, you may have to visit the artist again for corrections or touch-ups.

– Unscented lotion
– Clean towel
– Petroleum jelly
– Sunscreen

    Follow the instructions by the tattoo artist

    It is advised to follow the instructions given to you by the artist who drew the tattoo. They will give you best directions to what to do on not only the first day but the whole week. If you have any questions or queries, it is best to ask from the artist.

    Wash hands

    Before taking care and handling your tattoo, the first thing you should do is to wash your hands. You need to wash before doing anything to your tattoo from removing the bandage to applying petroleum jelly or lotion. Even if you are touching the area around your tattoo, you are required to wash your hands.

    Remove the bandage

    Next you need to take off the bandage. Remove the bandage almost two to five hours after you have your tattoo and then let your tattoo to air dry. In case you are going to sleep after having tattoo then let the bandage on.

    Wash the tattoo

    After removing the bandage and air drying the tattoo, you need to wash it with warm water and soap. Remove any blood stains and then dry it with towel.

    Keep your tattoo moisturised

    Next you need to keep the tattoo moisturised. You can apply petroleum jelly or lotion for this purpose. Remember that you can take shower but not bath as bathing may fade the tattoo.
