How to Fold Clothes like The Japanese

If you want to fold clothes like the Japanese do, bear in mind that it is only the shirts that you can fold because there is no known Japanese method for folding the pants. If you fold your shirts in the Japanese way, they will take less space which means you can store a larger number of shirts in a relatively small storage space. In order to fold your clothes like the Japanese, you will just need to follow a few basic steps for each piece of the clothing that you wish to fold.

    Before you start to fold the shirts, find a flat surface to work on. A table top will be one the best surfaces for this task. Work on shirt at a time by placing it on the tabletop with the front side of the shirt towards you.

    With your sight, horizontally divide the shirt into two equal halves. Grasp the shirt with one hand at a point approximately 1 inch from the far left edge of the shirt. This point at which you grasp the shirt should be along the horizontal line that you sighted.

    You need to hold the shirt at the horizontal axis point and then you have to go down one inch vertically. Remember, you should hold the shirt from the top in order to do this.

    Now you need to bring the collar part of the shirt to meet the lower part of the shirt. Bring it over your other hand to accomplish this. Make sure that crease in the middle is as horizontal as possible.

    Bring the half that you just brought down to meet with the lower left part of the shirt. While you lift the shirt, remember to turn it in the air. Bring the middle part of the shirt to meet the point where you had grasped the shirt at the start.

    To complete the folding process, flip the sleeves under the shirt. Continue in the same way until you have folded all your shirts.
