How to Convert an Outlook Data File to 2007

  Double click the Microsoft Outlook 2007 icon on your desktop to launch the program. If you do not find the icon on your desktop, then click the “Start” button, and move your cursor to “Programs”. Now move the cursor to Microsoft Office and you will see “MS Outlook” in the menu that opens.

  In the Outlook window, click the “File” menu and choose “New”. From the list of options, select "Outlook Data File”, which you will use to save the data from the 2002 format.

  Select the "Office Outlook Personal Folders File (.pst)." and click “OK” to proceed. The dialog box will now ask you to write the name of the new file in “File Name” field. Click “OK”. You will now be asked to enter the name of the PST folder, which you can check from the Outlook.

  Here, you will also get an option to protect your file with password. For this purpose, you will have to enter the password twice, in the “Password” and “Confirm Password” fields.

  Now select the "Folder List" from the “Go” menu, to see the new folder you just created. Click “File” and select “Import and Export”. Choose "Import from Another Program or File” and proceed by clicking “OK”.

  In the "File to Import” field, you will need to enter the path of the PST file where you stored it on your hard drive. Also, select the "Import Items into the Same Folder in" and choose the new PST file you created in step 3.

  Now complete the  process by following the on-screen prompts, to import your MS Outlook 2002 data file to MS Outlook 2007 PST file.
