Nascar and Twitter Partner for Upcoming Live Events

Twitter’s first ever partnership with NASCAR will create a better live event experience on the social media platform. The partnership is going to start this weekend at Pocono.

The race name has been officially changed earlier this week to the Pocono 400 Presented by #NASCAR, where all the supporters and die heart fans can now use the hashtag to follow recent tweets from commentators, teams, drivers and other celebrities.

Igdalsky, CEO and President of Pocono Raceway, is currently supervising this racing venue. His grandfather co-founded the racing competition back in 1957.

“I’m excited we were picked to be the launching pad for this,” Igdalsky says.

He added; “We’re upping the ante for what we’re putting out there for fans to track and using the platform to truly interact with fans,” he says. “We’re trying to elevate ourselves and this is a key way to do it.”

According to Twitter, their partnership with NASCAR will be a significant one because races end up attracting many teams and drivers, whereas in other sport events, they just attract pair of teams at a time.

The most captivating part of this weekend’s partnership will be the twitter.com/#NASCAR page, where you will find all the relevant tweets and photos from fans, drivers, pit crews, celebrities and media.

NASCAR fans vigorously follow all the tweets from drivers and commentators. Nearly, all the drivers connect with their fans on tweeter and give them latest updates and photos, which was previously impossible. Earlier this year, Driver Brad Keselowski tweeted photos of a crash inside his car on the Daytona 500 racetrack, which eventually gave him over 100,000 followers in just two hours.

Although, Igdalsky would be happy but not completely surprised if Pocono event will be the beginning of official relationships between Twitter and NASCAR.

“This is just a great central place to see a lot of content in one place and to interact,” he says. “It doesn’t have to be just NASCAR — it can spread to sports all around the world.”
