How to Use Mint Juice to Treat Blackheads

Blackheads are one the most common problems of oily skin. These are unsightly spots, actually caused by clogged pores. The problem arises due to the excessive production of sebum by the sebaceous glands. When your sebaceous glands become hyperactive, the open pores on your skin become clogged, subsequently resulting in the formation of blackheads. These tiny black spots that are mostly formed in the T-zone (nose, cheeks and chin) impact your close up appearance. Fortunately, there are several DIY home remedies to treat blackheads, but the simplest and the easiest employs mint juice.

Things Required:

– Mint sprigs
– 2 cup water
– Blender or food processor
– Wire strainer
– Cheesecloth
– Gentle cleanser
– A large mixing bowl or storing container

    Make mint face wash

Take several shoots of fresh mint and remove the leaves from the stems. Measure one cup of mint leaves and place them in the blender or food processor. Add two cups of water to the blender, place the lid and pulse it on medium to make a smooth paste of mint leaves. Line a wire sifter with cheesecloth and set it over a clean bowl. Pour the mint puree onto the cheesecloth and allow the liquid to drain and drip into the bowl. Once all the liquid has strained, gather up the cloth with mint pulp and extract the remaining liquid by squeezing it with hands.

    Prepare your skin for treatment

Apply mint juice on your face

Dampen a cotton ball with the mint juice you have just prepared and gently dab it over the affected areas. Do not wash your face after applying mint juice, just let it air dry so that the mint extract penetrates through the skin and cures blackheads effectively. Besides treating your blackheads with the mint juice, rinse your skin with a mint based face wash daily before going to bed.
