How to Make Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender essential oil is one of the best stress-relieving ointments. You can apply it on general aches, headaches and cramps. Furthermore, you can easily get it from any store in the market. However, if you don’t want to use any branded lavender essential oil or you cannot afford it, you can make it at your home by using few things.

Things Required:

– A 600ml wide-necked jar with tight-fitting lid
– 300 ml oil ( see tips for more information)
– Dark glass bottle with tight-fitting lid or stopper
– Glass mixing bowl
– Muslin ( to cover the top of the bowl)
– 8 tablespoons of lavender flower for each steeping

Instructions

First of all, you have to take a jar and clean it properly. Then, pour some oil into the jar and add the lavender flowers.

After adding the lavender flowers, you have to cover the jar tightly with the lid. Place the mixture in the jar to sheer for around two days in a shinny windowsill. You must keep in mind that you have to shake the mixture after every 12 hours.

Take a bowl and place the piece of muslin on it. Now, pour the oil on the muslin so that it may gather all the unnecessary material on it and transfer the filtered oil in the bowl.

Now, pour the filtered oil back into the jar and again add some fresh flowers to get the aroma of your choice. Place the jar near a windowsill where there is reasonable sunshine. If you don’t get the desired aroma, you can add more flowers to the oil.

Take a saucepan and pour some cold water in it. Place the jar in the pan and start to heat it gradually. You don’t have to boil the water, just make it hand-hot. Maintain the same temperature for around ten minutes and remove the jar from the pan. You have to repeat the procedure for at least once a day, if you live in cold region.

You can store your oil in a dark glass bottle. Pour the oil carefully in the bottle so that it may not pop out. In addition, you can store the oil for around six to twelve months in a cool and dark place.
