Using a bicycle stand allows you to pick and hold your bicycle at a height that makes it easy for you to do repairs on it. If you want to use a bicycle repair stand then there are some really easy to follow guidelines that you can use to help.

Instructions

  • 1

    Buy stand:

Go to your nearest bicycle shop and buy a good quality bicycle stand that is the right size for your bicycle. There are many different brands to choose from, so make sure that you get one that suits your budget. If you need any help then ask a salesperson to assist you in finding the right bicycle stand for you.

    Assemble stand:

Put the stand together by simply opening the legs from the hinges. This will make the stand well balanced and strong enough to put your bicycle on top. Make sure you put the stand on a hard flat surface that is level to ensure that the stand is balanced properly. Concrete or cement surface is the best surface to place your bicycle stand on.

    Use clamp:

Your bicycle stand will definitely have a strong clamp that you can use to hold your bicycle. Remember to use the post that the bicycle seat is on as this is one of the strongest parts to attach the clamp on to. This will ensure that the clamp does not ruin or damage any part of the lightweight bicycle frame.

    Rotate bicycle:

Now you can easily rotate the bicycle so that you can get to any part of your bicycle without any trouble. Remember to not put excessive weight on the bicycle while it is clamped to the stand as you could damage certain parts of the frame and seating post. Also, when rotating your bicycle remember to do it gently and slowly. Once you rotate the bicycle in to the position that you want you can easily secure the clamp so that the bike does not move while you try to repair it.

    Begin repairs:

Now that you have your stand balanced on the floor and your bicycle attached to the clamp, you can now begin to do your repairs or maintenance work. Remember not to put too much force on the bicycle when it is on the stand to avoid any damage to your frame or other parts. Also, make sure that nobody bumps the bicycle or stand while you are trying to work on it as it can tip over and damage your bicycle.
