    Oil-Based Stains

Stains that are oil-based will require an overnight treatment, and the potential for a few repeat treatments for stubborn stains. The good news is though, that is it easy, safe and effective.

Mix 1/2 cup baking soda, dish washing detergent and warm water together slowly in a bowl until they form a thick paste. Apply this paste to the stain, cover with a cloth or container and leave overnight.

The following day, use a sharp object to scrap the paste away, and a clean cloth to buff the area well.

Repeat the process as needed to get rid of the stain completely.

    Ink, Crayons and Nail Polish

These coloured items and paints are to be treated with caution. Two distinct and separate strategies exist based on the colour of your marble.

If you have light coloured marble, dip cotton balls in hydrogen peroxide or bleach and rub the stained area well until clean.

If you have darker coloured marble, dip cotton balls in acetone (nail polish remover) and rub the stained area until clean.
