The Goods
It is important to select fresh eggs and store them in your refrigerator. The quality of your eggs makes a substantial difference in the final product you consume as well as how they respond to cooking. -
2
Set the Heat
Place your pan on the stove top and set to the lowest heat possible. Place 3/4 of a tablespoon of butter in the middle of the pan and wait for it to melt. The heat should be low enough so that the butter does not sizzle or bubble. -
3
One at a Time
If you are new to frying eggs, note that they should be cooked one at a time. The butter inserted in the pan is for 1 egg and 1 egg only.
Crack an egg gently and carefully into your small saucer. Try not to break the yolk and be sure to remove any small shell fragments that may have escaped you. -
4
Saucer In
Once your butter has melted, place your saucer as close to the bottom of the pan as possible and gently slide the egg into the pan. Cover the pan with the lid maintaining the low heat. -
5
Cook Time
Once covered, allow the egg to cook for approximately 4-5 minutes. This time will differ depending on your pan and stove. The egg should appear cooked, based on the egg white becoming a nice white colour and the yolk appearing thicker.
If you choose to do so, you can carefully flip the egg and allow it to sit for another 2 minutes to fry on both sides. -
6
Remove and Plate
Once the egg appears cooked, remove it from the pan using your spatula and gently place it in a plate. Season with black pepper and salt to taste and enjoy!
