The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in London

Summer Exhibition organised by the Royal Academy is taking place since 1769 every year without any break. Today it’s one of the most anticipated exhibitions in London, which draws nearly 200,000 visitors every year, which get to see various forms of art works. The index of these art works comprises of paintings, drawings, prints, architectural designs, sculpture and models. This exhibition receives nearly 12,000 art works for consideration each year, out of which 1200 are displayed. This exhibition welcomes all artists whether they are well-known or unknown, and are allowed to submit no more than two art works for consideration after paying a fee of 25 per piece. As a result of hard work of the Royal Academy, Summer Exhibition has truly become an excellent platform for all artists, as they can sell their art works once included in the final list of 1200. This exhibition lasts for 3 months and organized in Burlington House at Piccadilly, central London, United Kingdom for several years now.

    History:

    The first ever Summer Exhibition was organized way back in 1769 by the Royal Academy, after its opening in 1968. Since then, this exhibition is taking place every without any exception. Simply due to the reason that it was prime objective of the Royal Academy to start an annual exhibition with open merit for all artists, where general public could come and see their art work. About 136 paintings were displayed in the first Summer Exhibition, later the number of art work kept growing rapidly. The number of art work crossed 1000 in 1820 and touch 1500 mark in 1845.
