‘Home of Cricket’, Lord’s Cricket ground has a major role in establishing the gentle men’s game not only among Londoners, but the entire United Kingdom. Currently the ground covers 250 yards, but the management is deciding to redevelop the area by adding more provisions like an ice rink and apartments. Lord’s Cricket ground has shot many cricket teams to fame and as recently as in 2009, Pakistan won the world cup against Sri Lanka in it, adding not only to the team’s feathers but also to the cricket ground’s hype in the world.

History:
Between 1787 till 1814, the ground was established by Thomas Lord. Currently owner of the ground is International Cricket Council (ICC). On 21st of July 1884 first test match took place on the Lords cricket ground, and then in next to no time prominence of cricket went to its peak. Whereas One Day International started in the year 1972, first match was held between England and Australia. Though the management mainly schedules cricket matches in this location, still it is used for various other sports on different occasions like, baseball, tennis, archery, bowls etc.

What to do at Lord’s Cricket Ground:
Besides viewing match you can also take a look at the MCC Museum which is known for being the oldest sport museum of the world. Things and memories (photographs) related to cricket are placed in this museum. You will get a chance to see the cricket kit of some eminent cricket stars like, Victor Trumper, Don Bradman and Jack Hobbs. Ticket holding spectators can pay a visit on the match days.
A small theater by the name of Brian Johnston Memorial Theater is also present, where you see footage about historical cricket.

How to Get There:
St John’s Wood transit station is 0.4 mile away from Lord’s Cricket Ground. By walk it takes approximately 7 minutes to cover the extent of space between two locations. Take an exit from the station and initialize your walk in the southeast direction on Wellington Rd/A41. After covering 590 feet, head towards the Cricus Rd in order to wrap up 0.1 mile distance. Take the last left turn towards Elm Tree Rd and keep marching until you reach at your destination. For further assistance take help from the Pedestrian Route.
By Bus:
Grove End Road (Stop F) is few feet away from the cricket ground. Buses which make a stop at the Grove End Road are 46 from City of London bus station and 187 from South Hampstead bus station.
