Black History Month Event London

The Black History Month became one of the main features of British capital’s multicultural calendar, since it was first celebrated way back in 1987. Today events regarding the Black History are celebrated throughout the month of October all across London. These celebrations invite people from all ethnic groups residing in London to know about the history of rich black culture. In this regard, several events live music, discussions and exhibitions are organized to celebrate Black History Month at different venues throughout London.     History:

    Black History Month Event was first time celebrated in the Great Britain during 1987. These celebrations were started in the UK to pay tribute to the great work of Akyaaba Addai-Sebo, who was a Ghanaian analyst and the Greater London Council. This annual event is also observed in the United States of America and Canada, which also attribute important people and occasions in the past of the African movement.

    On Black History Month Event in London several activities take place across the British capital. However, the centre of major activities will be Museum of London Docklands. At this museum people will get to see black history, culture and music. In addition to this historian S.I. Martin will also give useful insight to the visitors into the slave trade. Plus special screening of 1980s film, debate regarding role of Africa also and dramatic retelling of stories also takes place at this museum.

    By Tube

    Canary Wharf tube station is the nearest London Underground service near Museum of London Docklands. The gap between these two sites is close to 0.7 miles, which can be covered by walk in 14 minutes. To begin this journey from the Canary Wharf tube station commuters should head north on Upper Bank Street towards Canada Square and then, turn slight left to stay on Upper Bank Street. This will lead them to the left turn onto Aspen Way/A1261, continue to follow A1261 and then, turn left onto Hertsmere Road.
