Serious Organised Crime Agency London
Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) was established on April 1st of 2006, under Section 1 of the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005. It is neither police nor an intelligence agency but rather combines intelligence and law enforcement powers to reduce crime. SOCA was formed after merging of the the investigative and intelligence sections of HM Revenue & Customs on serious drug trafficking, National Crime Squad, the National Hi-Tech Crime Unit (NHTCU), the National Criminal Intelligence Service, and the Immigration Service’s responsibilities for organized immigration crime. Lately, in 2008, The Assets Recovery Agency became a part of SOCA rendering the Serious Fraud Office to remain a separate agency. Working in close association with other law enforcement agencies has made SOCA to leap one step further in preventing the occurance of crime. SOCA also works hard to nab fugitives who are speculated to be still in United Kingdom.
