While moving on the roads or streets of London, you might have noticed some vehicles whose taxes are not paid by their owners. Untaxed vehicles not only encourage (vehicle) tax payers to break the law, but also pose revenue loss to the Government of United Kingdom. As a law abiding citizen it is our moral duty to report untaxed vehicles that we come across. The Government body that taxes vehicles and maintains other important vehicle record is known as Drivers and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). It is a very smooth and effortless process and won’t take much of our time. All we need is basic information about the vehicle, and the reporting can be done either online or through postal mail.

    The registration mark of the vehicle.

    The make, model number and colour of the vehicle.

    Where was the vehicle last seen?

    The location of the vehile and any nearby landmark or important place to help identify the location more easily.

    Additional Information

    The possible time when the vehicle usually hits the road and / or information about the owner of the vehicle may also be useful.

    Results of your report

    The DVLA maintains a policy to wheelclamp the untaxed vehicles. DVLA works with Vehicle Enforcement and Ancillary Services which helps it in wheelclamping untaxed vehicles. Alternatively, a late tax penaltymay of 80 GBP be imposed on those who keep an untaxed vehicle for a period of over one month. A few untaxed vehicles may already have been issued a fixed penalty before they are reported by you.
