Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) is a non-departmental public body working with a motive to bring an improvement into the working atmosphere as well as the organisations industrial relations. It all started in 1896 when the government established a voluntary conciliation and arbitration service. A renamed occurred in 1960 and 1972 and then in 1974, the service was moved away from governmental control. In 1975 the present name Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) was given and the next year it received the status of a statutory body which it had to lose in the subsequent years when it lost the statutory role in recognition cases and collective bargainings. In 2009, ACAS laid out the procedures to cater grievances or disciplinary cases.

    Facilities & Services

    It works to encourage excellent HR practices and employment relations by resolving disputes and addressing workplace and working life issues. It is a totally impartial body that achieves its aim through arbitration, mediation and concilliation and helps the parties to reach an acceptable solution. The advice given by ACAS deals with all sorts of employment related issues including redundancy notice,  work life balance,  maternity leave, flexible hours for parents and discrimination issues.

    Operational Hours

    The office remains open six days a week. The timings from Monday to Friday are 8.00 am to 8.00 pm, and on Saturday from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm.

    By Tube

    From the close by Warren steet tube station, move northwest on Tottenham Court Rd/A400 towards Euston Rd. Turn left onto Euston Rd. The ACAS office will be on the right side. View Map

    Bus Stop

    There is a bus stop right in front of the ACAS office. It is called “Warren Street, Warren Street (Stop KA)”. Buses numbering 18, 30 and 205 reach this stop.
