How to Make a Brandy Crusta Cocktail

First prepared at the hands of New Orleans’ well-known bartender Joseph Santini in the mid of 19th century, the Brandy Crusta Cocktail is one of the finest brandy flavored drinks. It is one of the easiest cocktail recipes and requires some very simple and easily available ingredients, including cognac, orange curacao, maraschino liqueur, lemon juice, and Angostura bitters. Brandy Crusta Cocktail is traditionally served in a nice decorated sugar-rimmed cocktail glass with the spiral of a lime or lemon around the rim. However, make sure to set the lemon or lime peel in such a way that it sits properly without falling into the cocktail.

Ingredients:

– (50 ml) Cognac
– (1 teaspoon) orange Curacao
– (1 teaspoon) maraschino liqueur
– (Half a teaspoon) fresh lemon juice
– Dash of Angostura bitters
– Caster sugar frosting the rim – optional
– Ice cubes

    Take a sharp knife and peel the skin of the fresh lemon off in spiral.

    Squeeze the juice of the lemon pulp into a small mixing bowl and set it aside for the time being.

    Now, it is time to prepare the cocktail glass for Brandy Crusta Cocktail. For this purpose, you just have to moisten the rim of the glass with the remaining of lemon pulp, or you can use a fresh lemon wedge.

    Now frost the rim of the glass by dipping it into caste sugar.

    Note: It is better to use a grinded caster sugar as it sticks to the rim of the glass for a long time

    Once you prepare your glass, set it aside and grab a cocktail shaker to mix the ingredients.

    Pour 50 ml of Cognac, 1 teaspoon of Orange Curacao, 1 teaspoon of maraschino liqueur, half a teaspoon of fresh lemon juice and a dash of Angostura bitters into the cocktail shaker.

    Cover the lid of the cocktail shaker and shake it for a few seconds in order to mix all the ingredients thoroughly.

    Unseal the lid of the cocktail shaker and place a strainer on the opening to remove the ice cubes.

    Strain the Brandy Crusta Cocktail into a cocktail glass and carefully curl the lemon peel around the inside of the drink. Serve immediately.
