What is Bereavement Service?
Bereavement Service is a name of a telephone service that allows you to:
- Inform different government divisions about a death with just one phone call.
- Determine if you are entitled for benefits in case your civil partner, wife or husband has passed away.
- Bring a benefit claim for a person's family after his or her death.
- Claim for assistance with the funeral expenses, usually called as Funeral Payment or file a claim to get bereavement benefits. -

Check Benefits:
Another benefit of the Bereavement Service is that it can also check one’s benefits, which he or she may be entitled for. If necessary, this service can take a person’s claim for Funeral Payments or bereavement benefits over telephone. The Bereavement benefits comprises of the following reimbursement:
- Bereavement Allowance
- Bereavement Payment
- Widowed Parent's Allowance
There is no need to submit a copy of the certificate of registration of death (form BD8) to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Instead, it should be kept safe in case somebody requires it in the future. -
