History
The 25 hectare park was opened in 1869 by Metropolitan Board of Works. Its Ada Salter rose garden was developed in 1936. The park went through a renovation programme worth of 2.5 million GBP. A new bowling area was constructed and lake along with several other parts were repaired. -

How to get to Southwark Park
By Tube
The nearby tube station, Canada water underground station is at a distance of 0.5 miles. One can reach the park in 10 minutes on foot. From the tube station head southwest on renforth st and continue onto Moodkee St and then turn left onto Neptune St. Now, turn left onto lower road and then right onto Gomm road. “Rotherhithe/Surrey Quays, The Stanley Arms (Stop PE)” is the closest bus stop from the park. The 0.2 miles distance can be covered in 4 minutes on foot. Use bus number P12 to reach the bus stop.
