How to Pepper the Plantar Fascia

Plantar Fasciitis, generally known as a “bruised heel” is a common foot condition in which the fascia or ligaments that connect your calve and toes to your heel become inflamed and painful. The plantar fascia are actually the shock absorbers that run along the bottom of the feet and cushion them with every step you take. Usually tightened foot muscles and repetitive workouts causes inflammation. Once you have torn or inflamed a plantar fascia, the healing process may take considerable time, anywhere from several months to a year. However, there are some preventive measures to relieve symptoms associated with this condition.

    Capsaicin, present in hot chilli peppers such as cayenne, is said to encourage healing of this disorder. Purchase a foot ointment that has Capsaicin as its primary constituent. If your ointment does not have Capsaicin as its active ingredient, it will most probably be ineffective in relieving the symptoms of this disorder. You should be able to find this foot ointment at your local drug store or online. There are a lot of different websites that have all types of ointments for treating this type of condition. Be sure when ordering anything online that you make sure the website is reputable.

    Remove your shoes and socks exposing your foot and ankle. You may want to carefully soak your feet for a few minutes in running water. This will remove any dirt, sweat or debris that might be on your feet. Once you are done rinsing your feet off you should towel them dry. Be sure to dry the areas of your feet between your toes as you do not want to get athletes foot from water being trapped.

    Take a dime-sized amount of the suggested foot cream on your fingertip and rub it gently on the underside of the affected foot and along the ligaments in the back of your ankle (focus on the areas showing symptoms of Plantar Fasciitis). You may want someone to help you apply this ointment to your feet if you are unable to reach them properly.

    Allow the cream to seep in, while keeping the foot uncovered. Since the ointment has been applied topically, it may cause a burning sensation if you cover the foot with a sock or any other foot wear. Be sure to keep your feet elevated as you do not want the ointment to rub off on the floor. Make sure that the ointment has been thoroughly absorbed in to your feet before putting any socks or shoes on.

    For best results, apply this ointment three times a day, giving the cream at least half an hour to absorb completely. Make this a routine and do not skip a day as you will want the ointment to work to relieve some of the pain associated with this condition.
