How to Skydive in Central Illinois

Skydiving is an action sport in which a skydiver jumps off an airplane at a certain altitude and then uses a parachute in the final part of the decent to safely land on earth. Skydiving in Illinois is gaining popularity with the passage of time due to abundant flat farmlands and calm weather through most part of the year; the two most basic prerequisites for a safe jump. If you want to skydive in Central Illinois, you will need to choose a skydiving centre, pay the necessary fee and attend a classroom training session.

    The first step is to find a skydiving centre. If you are planning to skydive in central Illinois, the Illinois Skydiving Centre can be a possible option for you. It is less than 30 minutes drive from Champaign/Urbana with all of its diving spots located within central Illinois. The Illinois Skydiving Centre will provide you lessons irrespective of the level of your skydiving skills. Alternatively, you can join the Illinois Valley Parachute Club which is approximately 20 miles from Bloomington. In order to search for other skydiving centres, you can use the internet.

    Once you have chosen the centre where you will be skydiving, schedule a jump day and time. If it is the first time you will be skydiving, you will first have to attend a classroom session where a professional instructor will educate the proper techniques of skydiving. You will be certain safety precautions by the instructor. Make sure you do well to remember these instructions.

    After you are done with the classroom session on skydiving, you will perform a tandem jump. In a tandem skydive; you skydive while you are attached to a professional skydiver in dual-harness. You will need to contact the skydiving centre’s help desk in order to get a feel of the fee that you will have to pay for a jump. It will be almost nominal if you are a licensed skydiver.

    When you have taken care of the fee and completed the necessary ground training session, you will be lifted to a safe skydiving altitude in the proper outfit equipped with the right skydiving gear. In case of a tandem jump, the instructor will make the dual-harness connection. If it is a solo jump, simply rest in the plane. As you the green light blinks, jump from the plane according to the instructions that you received during the classroom session.
