How to Counter a Frontkick

A frontkick can prove to be lethal in a fight. If you are the one delivering it, then it is perfectly fine, but imagine that your opponent has lined you up for this move and you have got no chances of defending yourself. This can be extremely dangerous, as you can suffer serious injuries and lose the battle too.

Therefore, you need to be aware of the right technique of how to defend a frontkick and then go for the counter move to finish off the other person. Like all the other fighting moves, this is also not much difficult, but you need to practice hard in order to master it.

Instructions

  • 1

    Focus on agility

Fighting is all about agility. If you are not quick enough to react to your opponent’s attacks, you should not even think of participating in such battles.

Speed is the most important factor and will determine the outcome of the fight.

So you need to work hard in order to make your muscles flexible otherwise you will be unable to conquer the other person and will suffer severe injuries at the end of the day.

  • 2

    Get into the right position

The second most important thing in a fight is your stance. If you are not in the correct position, you will be unable to defend the attacks from your opponent and he/she will end up dominating you. Therefore, you have to bend down slightly and keep your feet moving throughout the fight.

You can opt for the open chested stance, but that will make you vulnerable to more attacks than normal, so the side on position is the best one, as it will allow you to mix the attack and defence.

  • 3

    React quickly

In order to counter the frontkick, you will have to react pretty quickly. In case of other attacks, you will get some time to respond, but this one doesn’t allow you doing so. Therefore, you will have to keep an eye on the opponent’s legs, so that you can react whenever he/she lifts it.

  • 4

    Kick on opponent’s thigh

In order to counter the frontkick, you will have to kick the thigh of your opponent, as soon as he/she lifts the leg. If the other person gains momentum, you will be unable to stop the kick.

  • 5

    Deliver the counter punches

After stopping your opponent’s kick, deliver the counter punches to pin him/her down.
