The major part of your portfolio will surround on your sample work. For instance if you are in the field of journalism then make sure that you have samples of your published work. This way you can strengthen your credentials and show the employer that you are the right person for the job.

Now compile the list of your accomplishments. This may or may not be related to your field of work. You must highlight the work you have done apart from your day-to-day responsibilities.

Now list features and skills that you have developed over the years. Listing them only will not serve the purpose as you have to properly detail how you mastered that aspect. This could include Graphic designing, or learning specific computer related programs.

Finally talk about your long term goals and where do you see yourself in the next five to seven years. This is an important part of your resume as prospective employers are bound to ask such questions. By having these already answered you can convey your willingness to work and how will the company benefit from you.
