How to Darken Blond Highlights
Blond hair look pretty but their grace increases when you add highlights to them. Whether you have highlighted your blond hair at home or from a saloon, it mostly happens that those highlights appear lighter than your expectations. Moreover, these highlights fade away a bit after the passage of time and tend to become lighter. Instead of repeating the entire process from the beginning, you can take certain steps to darken the highlights very effectively. You can perform this task by yourself, without seeking any help of a professional hair stylist.
Instructions

1
Determine the colour you desire to have on your hair from any book, magazine or individual. Make sure you have a copy of that particular shade when you go to the market for purchasing the items you need for darkening your blond highlights.
-
2
Go to a saloon, beauty supply or a drug store to purchase the shade of your desire. Remember to choose a shade or two lighter than your selected colour, as the hair dyes absorb quickly on already highlighted hair and appear a bit darker than the shade on the colour pallet.
-
3
You can choose any permanent colour, with a peroxide level below 10. This will minimise the possible damage to your hair.
-
4
For more natural highlighting, opt for neutral, beige or champagne colour. However, if you desire to have increased gold tones, simply purchase a golden shade. Ash colours are only to be used if your hair have a bit of orange or red tone in them.
-
5
You need to test the colours at first. Mix very small quantity of colour and the developer together. Apply the mixture to an underneath strand of your hair. Shampoo your hair after 20 minutes to observe the results and if you are satisfied with the shade, you may proceed further to t apply the dye on your entire head.
-
6
Add the colour and the developer in a bowl and mix them up with a brush.
-
7
Divide your hair into four sections. Part hair from the centre of your head to make two large sections and then further divide them into two halves to make four sections. Clip all the four sections to avoid them mixing into one another.

Apply colour side by side through the back sections and then keep moving to the front. Let the colour absorb into your hair for 20 minutes before you thoroughly shampoo and rinse them.
