    Design

The design is the basic difference between the two cleats. While football cleats are slightly heavier and have a firm grip baseball cleats are lighter. There is a reason for the design of the two cleats. Football cleats are heavier as they need to take the physical toll of the player and they have a sturdy grip on the ground as players have to use them for kicking the ball. This is also the reason why they are higher in the ankle. On the other hand, baseball cleats are lighter as they have to be used for running purposes mainly and you do not have to kick the ball.

    Spikes

Football players can only use plastic or rubber cleats as they have to kick the ball and it may be dangerous for other players. On the other hand, baseball players have the option of playing with metal spikes as baseball pitches are different to the football ones. The surfaces of baseball pitches are harder if compared to football pitches.

    Positional usage

Cleats are varying according to positional usage. In football, wide players use lighter cleats as they have to run with the ball a lot. However, players playing in a central role wear the heavier ones as they should have a good grip of the pitch. Baseball players prefer lighter cleats.
