How to Make Your Own Queen Size Bed Slats

Owning a bed is essential for just about every household. This is because you need a bed in your house, in order to go on and go to sleep on it. Sleeping is vital to humans, since we need to get in around seven hours of sleep on a daily basis, in order to operate normally, without getting fatigued and falling apart.

Now generally people make do with any bed that they get, they aren’t too concerned with the size of the bed that they are going to be sleeping on. However, if two people are to share a bed, then it would be smart to use at least a queen sized bed to get the job done.

These beds can be expensive, and sometimes it is parts such as the slats that can get damaged. These parts are hard to find, which is why you can choose to make your own slats, to save money and to get a custom fit that is ideal for your bed’s shape and size.

The first thing you need to do, is to go on and measure the length of your bed from one end of the frame to the other. You need to know just how much raw material you need, so that you don't end up buying extra materials or buying materials that aren't sufficient.

Now you need to take all these one inch by four inch boards and just about half an inch shorter than the measurements that you took. This is because you want the slats to slide right in, instead of them cramming up the space under the mattress.

Smooth out the slats that you have cut, and then start to place them on top of the frame. Place a slat at about twenty inches from the other, so that you have sufficient slats, while not overdoing it.

Once you have gone on to place all the slats in place, the next thing that you need to do is to place your mattress on top. After the mattress is in place, go ahead and test out the bed and see if any issues occur, or if you can feel the slats through the mattress. If that is the case, then go on and trim the slats to make the thinner.

Once you have the right sized slats in place, feel free to use your bed.
