To begin, you should trace outlines of all pictures you want to hang on the walls. You can hold the picture up (or ask someone to help you with it) and use a thin pencil to draw faint outlines.

Once you have traced all the pictures, you can assess the positioning and layout or whether you need to make adjustments. This will also help you manage your display space more efficiently and allow you to experiment without actually damaging anything.

Make sure you use a pencil or chalk that can easily be rubbed off without ruining the paint or leaving noticeable marks.

In order to balance the display, you need to alternate the sizes of the pictures while hanging them on the same wall. The small pieces should ideally be half the size of the larger pieces. It is suggested that you hang large pictures on a small wall in order to make full use of the limited space.
