Difference Between Fungal and Plant Cells

Fungal cells or fungi are a group of eukaryotic organisms that belong to the fungi kingdom and are parasitic in nature. On the other hand, plant cells are living organisms that belong to the plantae kingdom and are non-parasitic in nature.  The parasitic nature is one of the main differences between the two cells.

Fungal cells are found mostly in moist habitats whereas Plant cells can be found in all habitats. The fungi cell walls are made from chitin, which is a derivative if glucose. On the other hand, cell walls of plants are made from cellulose.

The fungal cells survive on nutrients which are from carbon-based life forms whereas plant cells produce their own food for survival. Plants produce food through the process of photosynthesis, which is a process of making food from water, sunlight and carbon dioxide.

Both cells have uses also. Fungi cells can be used to make food, certain types of medicines, pest control materials and chemical for use in industries. Plant cells can also be used to produce food, medicines but one of the main uses is the products made from wood. Wood is used to make many products which include paper. It can also be used in construction as furniture made from wood has become an important part of our life.

    Fungal cells

Fungi cells are a group of organisms that mostly are found in decomposed matter. They belong to the eukaryote domain and to the fungi kingdom. The word ‘fungi’ is a Latin word for ‘mushroom’ and can be located in habitats. These cells can be used in the production of food items, medicines, different drugs, enzymes and industrial chemicals. The nature of the fungi cells is parasitic.

    Plant cells

Plant cells are living organisms that are part of the plantae kingdom. They belong to the eukaryote domain and the word is derived from the Latin word ‘Viridiplantae’. These cells can be found in all habitats and some of the main uses of these cells are in the making of food, medicines and fodder. One of the main uses of plant cells is the wood. Wood can be used to make furniture and paper.
