Difference Between Offset and Digital Printing

A commonly used printing technique, offset printing involves an inked image which is relocated from a plate to a rubber blanket, and then to the surface. On the other hand, the process of printing from a digital-based image to any other type of media is called digital printing.

Apart from cost and quality, there are a number of technical differences between offset and digital printing. You can use both offset and digital printers if you are looking for, e.g., multiple coloured business cards; however, the processing period of the two will differ, with the former taking up a longer working period as compared to the latter.

Offset printing may consume a number of days in completing a task that involves graphic designing or coloured printing, whereas digital printing has brought about a revolution in the world of printing, redefining the printing process and the time required to get the job done.

As far as cost is concerned, offset printing is much cheaper than digital printing; owing to this, most companies prefer offset printing, because it is cost-effective.

    Digital printing

Digital printing is more convenient than any other form of printing because you do not have to replace the printing plates. As a result, you can get the job done within a short span of time. Inkjet and laser printers are the most popular types of digital printing, and are commonly used in homes and offices all around the world.
