Difference between Military and Shoulder Press

Working out is something just about everyone has to do, it is part of their daily routine, and it helps them stay in shape and keeps them fit and active. Now lots of people go to the gym on a daily basis, but they aren’t sure what they are supposed to do their.

One of the primary areas that need work on, in their shoulders. On average, the normal persons shoulders are rather weak. Now this might seem odd, but that is just how it actually is. Now there are a number of ways for you to work on your shoulders, but the best way to do so, is by doing either the military press, or the shoulder press.

These two exercises help you gain mass on your shoulders, while they help them shape up and get toned up at the same time.

The military press is a simple shoulder work out. What you need to do it, is that you need to get a barbell and then position it on a rack. Now you need to either get a bench or get a good standing position. Now you need to go on and lift the rod. Keep your elbows at a ninety degree angle while doing this. You can do this either behind your back, or in the front.

Now the shoulder press is a little different. This requires you to use dumbbells instead of a barbell. What you need to do here, is that you need to grab the two dumbbells in your hands and hold them parallel to each other. Now keep your elbows at ninety degree angles again, and lift your arms up. Make them go as high as you can, and try and get both the dumbbells to knock against each other, once you are at the highest point.

This is the main difference between the two. The motion, the rods and the way you need to perform them also varies, which is why you need to focus on your technique more than anything else.

    Shoulder press

This is fairly similar to a military press, only you need to perform this with dumbbells, as opposed to using a barbell. At the same time, it is usually done with lighter weights as opposed to the weight you use in the military press.
