The first thing that you need to do is to identify the factor that gave you a bad reputation. In most cases, it is the reputation that is guilty of portraying a person in a negative light. Other reasons for a bad reputation may be a certain group that is spreading rumours about you. Identify the factor and work on getting rid of it. If it is your attitude that is a problem, then fix it. If there is a group that is after your reputation, talk to them and sort out the matter.

A person is known by the company he keeps. If you are hanging around the school with a group of people who themselves have a bad reputation and for understandable reasons, you need to separate yourself from them. Do not ignore them completely if they are your friends, but do not spend most of your time in school with them. Instead, look for a group of friends who are well-liked and well-respected by both the students as well as the teachers.

If you try to hide away from the fact that you do not enjoy a good reputation, then you will not be able to make a sincere effort to fix it. Therefore, fess up to your reputation and then make it obvious that you are neither proud of that reputation, nor want to live up to it any more. Other people are bound to appreciate your genuine effort and maybe help you portray yourself in a positive light.

If your reputation at your current high school is damaged beyond repair, give serious consideration to moving to a high school at another location and turning over into a new leaf there. You will not have to worry about changing your reputation there, but will in fact start from the scratch.

If there is someone in your high school whom you admire, observe them and try to get inspired. Notice how they carry themselves in public and how they interact with others. Do not lose yourself while trying to imitate them though.
