How to Make a Pegu Cocktail

The Pegu Cocktail or Pegu Club is another well admired gin based drink that originated from Burma. The name of this cocktail was also derived from a club in Burma. That club was called Pegu Club and Pegu Cocktail was a signature drink of this establishment. Pegu was an exclusive club, as its membership was limited to foreigners only who either belonged to the military or worked on senior posts at government level, or were prominent business figures. The recipe of Peg Cocktail first surfaced on the scene when Harry Craddock published his Savoy Cocktail Book back in 1930, in which he called this drink Pegu club Cocktail. This cocktail remained a huge hit until World War II, after which it slowly started to lose its popularity. However, Pegu Cocktail grasped the limelight once again after some time when several bar tenders started serving it once again.

The Pegu Cocktail is considered as a summer drink as it has all the ingredients that will cool you down in hot weather. The taste of this amazing drink gives a touch of grapefruit.
