How to Remove Colored Fruit Drink from Carpet

Drink spills are a total disaster. Not only are you deprived of precious sips of that delicious fruit juice you took hours to prepare, the carpet underneath also moans out in disgust. Fruit juices have strong color that can stain your carpet and bring a downfall to its glory. Much that we want prevent them, spill accidents are common in homes, especially in those with kids. This certainly does not mean that you let your carpet remain a living witness to such accidents. The juice stains may be stubborn.

– Dishwashing Liquid
– Cleaning Cloth
– Ammonia
– Vinegar
– Bowls

    The first step is to try take out as much of the juice as possible. Blot the stain with a clean cloth or tissue papers to absorb the juice. However, do not rub the juice inside the fibres. It will spread and penetrate more. Try to lift it up.

    Now prepare a cleaning solution. Pour in a some dish washing liquid into a bowl of lukewarm water and make a soapy solution. Fill another bowl with clean lukewarm water. Now dip a clean cloth in the soapy bowl and blot the stain with it. Take another clean cloth, dip it in the clean water and blot the stain with it too. Keep alternating between the soapy and clear water to take out as much of the stain as possible.

    Most stains will disappear with the soapy solution. If yours is a more stubborn one, you will have to make more effort. Vinegar and ammonia can be used for cleaning the stains. Both of them have clearing properties that prove helpful around the house. Add  2 tablespoon ammonia to a bowl of lukewarm water. In another bowl, mix a cup of white vinegar and 2 cups lukewarm water. Dip a cloth in the ammonia mixture first. Blot the stain with it. Now do the same with the vinegar solution. Keep alternating between these two like you did with the soap and clear water. When the stain disappears, dip a clean cloth in clean water and give a final clear blot to lift off traces of the cleaning solutions. Make sure that you use clean clothes for each alternate blotting. Using white helps you knowing how much of the stain is cleared.
