How to Train for an Ironman Triathlon

Ironman triathlon events are possibly the toughest events in the world. They are events that go on and push your body to the limit, and make you go on and question your existence. They make you do almost any thing and everything to push yourself and really see what it is that you are made out of.

The race consists of a swimming course, a cycling course, a running course and a marathon section. At the end of all these parts, most people are unable to do anything else, simply because of how hard it is to do all of this in one go.

The race doesn’t let you take a break, and it tends to go on for about seventeen hours at a stretch. This just goes to prove that not everyone can participate in the race. This is why you need to condition and train yourself  to be able to complete the race.

    Now the first thing that you need to do, in order to compete in the toughest race out there, is to mentally prepare yourself. You need to go on and spend a lot of time, convincing yourself that you can do this, because if you don't think you can do the race mentally, you will never be able to do it.

    This might seem like it isn't a very important step, but it is actually one of the most important parts to being able to push yourself to the limit. You need to be mentally on par with things, before you can do them.

    Now the next thing that you need to do is to go on and start conditioning yourself physically. You need to start off by doing the basics, which see you running, cycling and swimming like a normal person. These things won't take very long.

    However, as time goes by, you need to increase the duration and intensity of each one of these in order to see just how far you can go.

    Now the ideal thing to do, is to slowly build on this and then go on till you can do each for three hours at a stretch without stopping.

    The last thing you want to do, is to condition yourself to not wanting to sleep all the time. This is not going to be easy to do, but should you push yourself, you should be able to do this just right.
