Difference between Lycan and Werewolf

Many people think that lycans and werewolves fall under the same category, as they have a lot of similarities. However, the reality is far from it; they have got numerous differences and cannot be considered the same creatures.

Both the lycans and werewolves are mythological characters and have got nothing to do with reality. There are dozens of Hollywood flicks based on these creatures. One of the most famous movies in this category was the Underworld, which was released in 2003. Later, three more of its parts were released in 2006, 2009 and 2012 respectively.

If you watch this series, you will be able to see some visible differences between the werewolves and lycans. Moreover, there are numerous other dissimilarities between the two characters.

Transformation is quite a key factor, when you talk about werewolves and lycans. The former of the two transforms under the full moon. This transformation cannot be restricted, as the person is helpless in this regard.

On the other hand, the lycans are not dependent on the full moon and can transform at any time of the day or night. Moreover, they can also control their transformation and remain in human form for as long as they want.

Both the werewolves and lycans possess extreme power, agility, coordination and many other abilities that are not found in a normal human being. However, the lycans are known to be smarter and can take better decisions compared to the werewolves, who can lose control after transformation.

Although both these creatures have got a similar physique and are stronger than humans, yet the lycans are stronger of the two and have got a more muscular body. Werewolves are easier to kill compared to the lycans. The latter can only be killed once its spine is severed from the body. However, a werewolf can be killed by piercing its heart or head by a silver object.
