How to Change the Computer’s Warning Beep

At times, a particular sound or beep you hear whenever you perform a certain task on your computer can becomes very annoying or boring. If you are facing such an issue, the best way out would be to change the sound scheme being used by your version of Windows. This is a task which should require no more than a few mouse clicks. Here is what you need to do in order to change your computer’s warning beeps which are produced every time you perform a certain task on your computer.

    Log in to Windows using your Window’s account username and password. You do not necessarily need to log in with an administrator account. You would be able to change your computer’s warning beep from a limited Windows account as well.

    Click the ‘Start’ button followed by ‘Run’. In the Run dialogue box, type ‘Ctrl’ and then press the Enter key. Windows will open the Control Panel. This is where you can make different changes to your computer such as changing the display settings, adding or removing programmes from Window and of course, changing your computer’s sound settings.

    In the Control Panel window, look for an icon labelled ‘Sounds and Audio Devices’. Double click that icon and a window labelled ‘Sounds and Audio Devices Properties’ will pop up.

    From the ‘Sounds and Audio Devices Properties’ window, click the ‘Sounds’ tab. Click on the dropdown menu labelled ‘Sound scheme’. Choose a particular sound scheme.

    Windows will also allow you to preview a particular sound that will be played whenever you perform a certain task. Click on one of the ‘Programme events’ option and then click the small Play button under the section labelled ‘Sound’. The beep or sound corresponding to the event you chose will be played. You can either hear the sound on open speakers or on a headset.

    When you are done making all the desired changes, click the button labelled ‘Apply’ followed by the button labelled ‘OK’ located at the bottom of the ‘Sounds and Audio Devices’ window. You have successfully changed the sound or beep Windows will play each time a certain event occurs.
