How to Find the IEEE 1394 Port on Your Camcorder
IEEE 1394 port is an extremely important part of a camcorder, as it is used to transfer data to the computer. Every camcorder always has an IEEE 1394 port, but it might not be very much apparent. Therefore, you may find it very difficult to locate the port.
If you are unable to find the port, things would surely become very tricky for you. If the data is saved on a memory card, you can do the trick simply by putting it into a card reader. But if the video is saved to the camcorder’s internal memory, it is impossible to move the data without the use of the IEEE 1394 port.

First of all, you need to consult the owner’s manual. Every camcorder comes with a booklet. Consult the photograph that describes each part of the camcorder with arrows.

Generally, the IEEE 1394 port is located right next to the RCA audio and video output ports. It may vary though, depending on the design of the camcorder. Since these ports are very sensitive, the manufacturers usually use a flip-up cover to keep them safe. Look for the cover on the rear or side of the camera.

The IEEE 1394 port is a very small 4-pin port. It generally measures about a quarter inch across. You will also notice that the ends of this port are rounded.
