A Diamond Theory: Ch. 1

As Shelly stepped out onto her patio, a strange box caught her attention. She couldn’t remember if anyone was near her house. She hadn’t remembered anyone leaving a gift outside her home. It was her birthday yesterday, 24 years old now. The mysterious box sat right next to her mailbox, just right outside her fence.

Shelly stepped off her patio and began walking towards the fence. As she neared the box, she saw that it had a letter taped to it. She picked it up and examined it. There she was, 5″4′, blonde, and blue eyed just staring at the letter. The inscription read “To a very cute stranger, Take care of this gift, be sure you let no one see it. It’s contents is worth more than you. Take care of it and solve whatever problems come your way- Miss FBI Agent.”

“What?” she asked herself curiously as she stared at the box. They had left no name and the letter seem more like a tool to frighten her. She took it inside and sat on her table. She unwrapped it, opened it and realized a smaller box lay inside. She opened the smaller box and inside sat a maroon colored diamond. A letter was attached underneath it. “To whoever gets this treasure, be aware of the consequences. This diamond was created by Dr. Fox Montgomery for purposes not need to be known. Beware, they always find out.” Shelly stood there with amazement in her eyes. “Dr. Fox Montgomery is my grandfather.” she told herself as she studied the diamond. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.

It obviously startled her for she nearly dropped the diamond. “Coming!” she yelled as she placed the diamond inside a cupboard. She straightened her skirt and went to answer her door.

“Bianca! How are you doing today?” She asked as she gave her a hug. “I’m doing pretty good today, my dear friend.” she said as she wondered in. “So how are you and what’s his face doing?” She asked as she giggled. “We’re not dating Bianca, we’re just friends.” Shelly said with a look of disdain.

“Ohh… sorry… didn’t know.” She giggled silently.

They walked out towards the patio and took a seat by the steps. “What a day it has been Bianca.” Shelly said as she grabbed one of her cats. Suddenly out of nowhere a loud sound emanated from what sounded like all directions. “I wonder what that sound was Shelly?” Bianca asked as she and Shelly looked around for some answers.
