A Gardner Village of Christmas Gifts
The shops have a wide variety of goods, from to die for candy and sweets to fabulous quilts to the best bookstore you ever saw for your children. There is a shop to cater to every interest, and it is fun to wander in and out of them all. If you are having trouble finding a gift for anyone on your list, this is the place to go.
One of my favorites is Anastasia’s Attic. It is designed on the premise that no one really knows what happened to the Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov after the Russian Revolution in 1918. It has long been rumored that she escaped the horrible killing that befell the rest of her family, because her remains have never been found. The owners of Anastasia’s Attic surmise that she would have been very comfortable in their store.
Stepping into Anastasia’s Attic is like stepping back in time in more ways than one. The shop is housed in a home built in 1933. Once inside, you find yourself wanting to linger over all their timeless treasures. Many of their wares are nostalgic reproductions of items from days gone by. For instance, they have Victorian hats, decorated with beads and dripping feathers. There are interesting glass perfume bottles and beaded handbags that would win any woman’s heart. You will be drawn to the vintage style jewelry and the colorful scarves that hang from antique door pulls. You can imagine relaxing baths complete with their French-milled soaps, and see yourself having high tea with the fine china service from England. Everything in the store is a treat for your soul, a gift that you should give yourself more often, and Anastasia’s Attic in Gardner Village gives you the opportunity for those little personal pleasures we all deserve.
If you decide to make a day of it, Gardner Village has plenty to occupy you. The day spa offers massage, body treatments, relaxing pedicures and a full service hair salon. You can spend the morning shopping, and the afternoon being good to your body and mind. There is also an excellent restaurant, called Archibald’s. The food is decidedly American, definitely tasty, and not highly overpriced. They are famous for their fried green tomatoes, and their soups and salads make a very tasty lunch. So spend a day in December shopping at Garner Village. You won’t be disappointed.
