A New Group of Terrorists in Season 4 of 24
On Fox’s hit show 24, viewers turned in record numbers to watch Season 4 of 24 with Kiefer Sutherland playing the role of agent Jack Bauer CTU and saving the world from his Counter Terrorist Unit once again. Some people ask, why Jack Bauer is so awesome. I respond by telling them how time and again when his country needs him he responds and saves the world once again. The Jack Bauer phenomenom is sweeping the nation as Jack Bauer pics, Jack Bauer Buddy Icons and Jack Bauer is my hero T-Shirts are gaining more and more popularity.
This time in Season 4 the terrorists are a group of Middle East people who are trying to create nuclear power plants to break down and kill hundreds of thousands of people. In this elaborate scheme the terrorists have captured the Secretary of Defense Raines and are putting him on trial for war crimes. The Secretary of Defense was captured when a group of terrorist who were armed with machine guns ambushed the Secretary’s armed Secret Service agents and killed all of them except for the Secretary and his daughter Audrey Raines.
Meanwhile, a train was in a crash after it collided with a truck on the rails that was loaded with explosives. The train flipped over and injured and killed many people. Out of the side of the screen, a man on a motorcycle comes and tracks down an injured man with a briefcase chained to his arm. The man on the motorcycle kills the other man and obtains the briefcase. The contents of the briefcase are unknown to the viewer until it is discovered that the briefcase contained instructions about a nuclear power plant detonation.
President Kieler who has a very short role in the film decides that the execution of the Secretary of Defense cannot be broadcast live over the internet. Instead he gives the command for a fighter plane to bomb the building that the Secretary is being held in so that fear and panic does not spread among the public.
However, Jack Bauer is there once again to save the Secretary and his daughter Audrey who Jack Bauer is in love with. Jack Bauer single handedly take on all of the guards and kills them. Then he rescues the Secretary and the two men take out the rest of the guards.
While it momentarily appears that there is a lull in the action, the next episode shifts focus back to a Middle Eastern family which has just killed an American girl named Debbie who is love with the son of the Islamic terrorists named Beruse. The girl follows Beruse to a secret warehouse and Beruse’s parent believe that the girl can no longer live so the mother of Beruse poisons the girl.
The main criminal who is responsible for everything and is at the top of the command is a man named Marwa who is a deadly terrorist. Throughout the remaining episodes, Jack Bauer attempts and fails to capture Marwa. Even when Marwa is captured, the SUV is blown up and Marwa is rescued once again.
When Marwa is finally tracked down to a building, he is found trying to create a nuclear meltdown of every power plant in the United States. CTU analyst Edgar Stiles is able to disarm all but 6 of the reactors. One of those reactors does explode and time is running out for the other 5 power plants. When Marwa is almost tracked down, he leaves behind a computer with the codes for disarming the nuclear power plants and the attack is thwarted… for the moment.
Marwa is able to escape yet again as he causes confusion and panic in a public area by firing gun shots in the air. The action in Season 4 of 24 shows a side story of an army captain’s family being captured and the man taken at gun point into an army base. An imposter military commander has taken the real captain hostage to get past the security check point. The terrorist, named Chris Anderson is an ex marine pilot. He shoots the captain and locks him in the trunk of a car. He also takes command of an F14 fighter plane which cannot be seen by radar. The pilot of the F14 has the target of the Air Force plane which the president flies on. When the president is made aware of the imminent attack, his own F14 fighter plans form a close circle to protect the Air Force plane. However the pilot Anderson is still able to fire a missile that destroys one F14 fighter plane and caused Air Force One to Crash land. The plane crashes into many parts with most people on the plane dead and President Kieler badly injured and in no shape to run the country.
The Vice President and the cabinet use the 25th amendment and make the Vice President the new president of the United States. President Logan who is a coward and a nervous wreck takes over leadership of the nation.
However, the viewer soon learns that killing the president was not the main objective of the terrorist named Marwa. There is a suitcase called the “football” which contains the nuclear weapons codes for weapons in the United States. Many of these weapons are being transported by truck. Marwa’s men gain control of a nuclear weapon and attach it to a missile and fire it straight towards the city of Los Angeles. Jack Bauer and the Counter Terrorist Unit must find the location of the missile before it is too late.
In the end, Jack finds out the missile’s location and a fighter jet is able to destroy the bomb and missile together in a mid air explosion. Jack Bauer once again saves the day from terrorists.
