A New Mixed Bunch of Actors and Actresses on Season 4 of 24
Season 4 of 24 was one of the best seasons of 24 and part of that reason was because new actors and agents came to the Counter Terrorist Agency in Season 4 of 24. These new actors and actresses were mixed in with the old supporting actors and actresses along with American hero Jack Bauer played by Kiefer Sutherland. Let’s look at the new people in Season 24 and their roles.
Aaron Driscoe was put in charge of the Counter Terrorist Unit after Jack Bauer was relieved a duty for using heroin. She was doing a very good job and seemed to be in control until it was discovered that there was a mole discovered in the agency under her watch. She also encountered trouble with Jack Bauer at CTU when Jack went against her orders to track down a terrorist. However, one of the side stories that developed in Season 4 of 24 on Fox was Aaron Driscoe’s daughter who had schizophrenia and had to be administered into a clinic.
To keep a better eye on her daughter who was causing trouble in her neighborhood, Driscoe moved the medical clinic to the Counter Terrorist Unit to watch her daughter. When her daughter named Mia threatened to destroy the clinic with her psychotic behavior, Driscoe had to come to the clinic to calm her down. However when Driscoe was in the middle of a crises, she was unable to come to the clinic and could not stop her daughter from committing suicide. After talking with the Secretary of Defense who was one of her good friends, she decided to relieve herself of duties as director of CTU and Tony Almeda took over.
In Season 4 of 24, President David Palmer who was played by Denis Haysbert decided not to run for re-election after his ex wife Sheri died. The new president was President Kieler. Unfortunately for him his time as president was short lived. His Air Force One air plane was shot down by terrorist and when he was found he was in critical condition and was unable to lead the nation. Vice President Logan was made president and he is a character who does not appeal to viewers. Unlike President Kieler who seemed like a strong leader, President Logan is tentative and unsure of himself.
In Season 4 Chloe returns as one of the few agents of the Counter Terrorist Unit on the show 24. Chloe as usual, is her blunt and to the point self, never holding back her thoughts. As she tells Audrey in one scene, “It must be hard for you with your husband Paul taking a bullet for Jack who you are in a relationship with.” Chloe is still her brilliant self but is dismissed by CTU director Aaron Driscoe for betraying her and helping Jack Bauer played by Kiefer Sutherland. When Michele Dessler is put in charge of CTU, Chloe is reinstated and comes back to help save the world and stop the terrorists.
Edgar Stiles is one of the new people working at the Counter Terrorist Unit. He is an analyst and seems to be smart. He saves the day when he prevents 100 nuclear reactors from melting down which were activated by the terrorists. Edgar also seems to be one of the good guys you root for. He is a nice guy who is overweight but seems to try hard on his job.
No Michele Dessler: Michele Dressier as the viewer finds out has separated from her husband Tony Almeda. However midway through the season 4, she comes back and takes over as the Counter Terrorist Unit director. She actually replaces Tony Almeda as director when Tony stepped in on an interim basis for Aaron Driscoe. Michele plays a great role on the show and she reignites her relationship with Tony. She is also faced with the dilemma of having Tony hostage and is in the same situation that Tony was in during Season 3. However Michele is able to save Tony without letting the terrorist get away.
One of the old characters from the other three seasons of 24 comes back to the show, Curtis who is a field agent who leads tactical teams on missions to hunt down terrorists for the Counter Terrorist Agency. Unlike the past three seasons in which Curtis had a small role, in Season 4 of 24 on Fox, Curtis has a relatively large role as he plays the role of Jack Bauer’s right hand man. Curtis is a likeable character and is very brave and a great field agent. He escapes his captivity by the terrorists and helps Jack Bauer track down the terrorist known as Marwa and prevents the nuclear reactors from melting down.
Ann Taylor is one of the new casts of characters working at the Counter Terrorist Unit on 24.
The viewer learns how Ann was in a relationship with Curtis and how Curtis felt betrayed by her because he felt used by her. Curtis does not trust Ann and neither should the viewer. She snoops on Edgar at CTU and blackmails him into giving her clearance which she should not get to files at CTU. Finally, CTU learns that Ann is a spy and a traitor and is gathering information for terrorists.
Sarah is also a new CTU agent. She was originally friends with Aaron Driscoe but then she was framed by Ann as a traitor. Sarah was tortured unjustly because she was accused of being a traitor. Sarah is likeable at times but mostly viewers are indifferent towards her.
Tony Almeda returns in Season 4 of 24. His entrance into the 4th Season of 24 is great and was well scripted by the directors of 24. When Jack Bauer and Audrey are in trouble and both have run out of bullets and are cornered by terrorists, Jack Bauer played by Kiefer Sutherland calls Tony Almeda up for help. Tony arrives on the scene and kills the three terrorists and saves Jack’s life. As the viewer learns, Tony’s life has been in shambles.
His wife Michele left him when Tony became an angry drunk because he lost his job. He was going to go to jail but he got a pardon from President Palmer. When Tony helps Jack out, Jack convinces the Secretary of Defense to let Tony stay on at CTU on an interim basis. When Aaron Driscoe has to be relieved of duty when her daughter dies, Tony is put in charge of director of CTU for a short while until Michele Dressler takes over his post. Towards the end of the 4th season of 24, the couple gets back together and settles their differences.
In Season 4, President Palmer played by Denis Haysbert has stepped down as president and decided not to run for reelection. However when the Vice President Logan comes to power, he needs help and his cabinet chief Mike Novik decides to enlist the help of President Palmer. Although President Palmer doesn’t trust mike Novick, the President is willing to help save the country from a nuclear bomb. The president saves the day once again.
