The Flying Saucer is known for its huge beer selection. 232 beers to be exact. They have 80 different beers on tap, and an ever changing bottled beer supply. Monday night all of the beer on tap is $2.50, and every other night of the week at least one of the tap beers is $2.50. The top of the bar is filled with saucers that are imprinted with the names of people as well as a personal quote, which can be earned by drinking 200 different beers at the bar (you can only get credit for 3 per night).
Sammy’s

An NC State student favorite, Sammy’s is located in the Mission valley shopping center off of Western Blvd. For the most part a sports bar, Sammy’s is usually filled on game days. There are usually pretty good drink specials, and always a good number of people hanging out.
Mitch’s Tavern

Not only does Mitch’s have a great bar, but they also have a terrific menu. The food is moderately priced, but the portions are huge. Come hungry, or come prepared to lave with a box full of your next meal. Since it’s right on Hillsborough street Mitch’s is very popular with NC State students, and walk able from most dorms and apartments close to campus.
Tir Na Nog

A true Irish pub. Tir Na Nog is a fabulous place to go when you’re looking for something a little different. They have true Irish cuisine, and a great atmosphere. Depending on when you go you can sometimes catch live entertainment, and occasional drink specials. Tir Na Nog is (obviously) a great place to spend your St. Patrick’s Day, or any other day when you want to feel a little Irish.
Jillians

Beach Volleyball, live music, and the most video games you’ve seen in one place since you were ten. Jillian’s is a great bar to go to, when you have a huge group of people with different interests. The bar is HUGE. With an outdoor area for beach volleyball, a massive stage and dance floor, twelve pool tables, and a gigantic arcade. Playing video games can cost you a bundle (a game of Pac man is $1.25), but the bar often runs specials on game play and other activities. Depending on when you go there is also sometimes a cover to get in, and local radio stations will occasionally broadcast live.
Village Draft House

Some of the best burgers in town. The Village Draft house has a tremendous menu of great food, to complement their reasonably good beer selection. Located in the heart of Cameron Village, the Village Draft House is mostly a hang out for Grad students, but you will see the occasionally undergrad thrown in here and there. Wednesday nights they have $3 pint night, so come out and enjoy your favorite beers a little cheaper than usual.
Woody’s

Woody’s is one of the best places to be if sports are your thing. No matter where you look in Woody’s, you’re bound to be looking at a TV. Woody’s has a variety of TV’s all usually tuned to different sporting events. The beet is always $2.50 for a pint, and they have a good menu for food as well.
Vin

When you need a little culture, Vin is the place to be. Vin has a wonderful selection of wines from around the world available to purchase in several different glass sizes, as well as by the bottle. Vin also has several fine dining options, so you can come to eat dinner as well as drink if you like. Your average drink will run you’re around $8, and dinner can be around $30, so come prepared to spend some money.
