A Product Review of the Bissell Powerforce

The Bissell Powerforce is an excellent choice for those whose own vacuums have seen their better days. This particular vacuum sucks, in a good way. The extremely powerful suction both on the carpet and with the hose is a nice change after an old, wheezing peice of junk.

From the outside the Bissell Powerforce is attractive in appearance. The plastic casing is a shiny black, with the occasional red triangle. This product’s lettering is in white. From the back you can see where the cleaning tools ride on board, inside specially designed molds. This is nice because the snap lock feature keeps the tools from falling off when cleaning.

The tools that come with this vacuum are standard. The hose is a bit longer than others I have encountered, and that’s useful, especially when cleaning around the cat’s area! The plastic extension pole is just that, with a nice twist. The crevice cleaning tool is stored inside of the pole, saving space on the back of the vacuum. Also included is a tool for vacuuming furniture. The bag change indicator light makes keeping track of bag changes easy. It turns bright red when the bag needs to be changed. The rest of the time, it is a more mild green. Bags are easily found at most stores for the particular vacuum. The bag is a style seven.

With all of it’s features working together to keep the Powerforce slim and compact, it is no wonder that it fits so conveniently into a small corner of the closet. The cord wind feature is on the side, not the back. which is very helpful in keeping the cord from becoming tangled with the hose. (This is very important to those of us who are organizationally challenged, OK?)

The cleaning action of the Powerforce rivals that of it’s more expensive counterparts. Many times, cleaning up spilled cat litter with the old vacuum, I would get a clog after seconds of beginning. The other thing that I notice is how well it lifts cat hair from the carpet. After buying this product, I was so excited to see my carpet looking good again.

The price was more than reasonable for this vacuum. At less than $40.00, this product is holding up very well. The original bag sold with this vacuum has lasted a few months now, suggesting that these aren’t the type of bags that have to be replaced excessively often. The instructions for putting it together were so simple that even those who aren’t mechanically inclined should be able to handle it.

However, as well as it meets all of my cleaning needs, it meets one other need better. All of those Netflix dvds behind the entertainment center? This vacuum is great for retrieving them!
