A Review of the St Louis Gateway Arch
When you enter the Arch you are in for a real treat as there are several different activities you can choose from. There is of course the tram that you can take to go to the top of the Arch, The Museum Of Westward Expansion, as well as a theater showing the journeys of Lewis and Clark. I highly advise if you plan on riding the tram to the top that you purchase your tickets immediatly upon arrival or in advance. Depending on the day, tram tickets can sell out and it would be a shame to miss that part of your visit.
The Museum of Westward Expansion, is a free attraction. It has many wonderful exhibits that showcase how the pioneers lived as well as the tools they used to survive. There are also animatronic characters who tell you about how they lived and give you a insight of their history. My favorite part of visitng the museum is the fact that I can spend as long as I like looking at the exhibits and from time to time a park ranger is there sharing information.
The tram runs 7 days a week and leaves every 10 minutes during operating hours. They estimate the average round trip time to take 1 hour. It only takes a few minutes to ride up to the top, however when you see the breathtaking view you just have a hard time wanting to go back down right away. This is another great part, you are never on a time limit as to how long you stay at the top. It is up to you to decide when you would like to go back down. The only thing I did not enjoy about the tram was the fact it is small and i felt rather clausterphobic riding it.
The movies that are shown are between 35-45 minutes long and are shown on big screens. This is a great way to kick back and relax while learning some ineresting history. Films are shown every hour and ticket prices are reasonable.
Overall this the St Louis Arch is a great place to visit. The prices for the attractions are reasonable and can often be combined to save money. Check it out you wont be disappointed
