A Weekender’s Guide to Chicago

The Field Museum of Natural History. This was one of my favorite stops during my stay in Chicago and no guide to Chicago would be complete without it. Some exhibits are always there, others make a special appearance. Exhibits include a complete Tyrannosaurus rex fossil, Ancient Egyptian artifacts, man eating lions, and more.
Little Italy – Eating in Chicago. I love Italian food. Little Italy is a haven of authentic Italian restaurants. I went the day before the marathon, and each place was filled with hungry runners. Navy Pier. Originally constructed during World War I, the Navy Pier is currently a haven for various tourist spots including the Crystal Garden’s, Chicago Children’s Museum, the 3-D IMAX Theater and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. It is also a popular spot for conventions and fairs.
The Magnificent Mile- Shopping in Chicago. For those who love to shop, the Magnificent Mile will undoubtedly be the highlight of a trip to Chicago. Located as part of Michigan Avenue, this shopping district is home to many well known shops such as Neiman Marcus and Lord & Taylor as well as smaller boutiques and shops. Chicago Nightlife. Chicago has a lively nightlife scene. Whether you want a neighborhood bar or something a little classier, Chicago can accommodate. Also, don’t forget about the blues.
