A Writing Contest is Benefiting Homelessness

A not-for-profit corporation is sponsoring an essay contest with a portion of the proceeds to benefit victims struggling with the homelessness theme.

The topic is Homelessness in America and the maximum length of the entry is 1,000 words.

If you cannot submit via email from the website you may mail your entry (in 12 point Times New Roman or Courier font and double-spaced) to: Simply 40, Inc., Simply Aware: Essay, 2002 West Chicago Avenue #155, Chicago, IL 60622.

The deadline is Nov. 15th for all entries to be received.

First place is $100 and work posted on the website (simply40.com) for three months while maintained through a link and archive, listing on winner’s page, publicity in the organization’s newsletter with link to your own entry page, and press release public relations.

Second place is $50, a partial posting with link to essay, mention on winners page and in newsletter, and link to entry.

Third place is $25, list on winner page, and name in newsletter.

The fee is $10 for emailed entries and $15 for postal mail.

Simply 40 is also donating in a separate way to Hurricane Katrina victims.

Donations will be made through a trust from the website.

You can see the list of donors on the site which will be updated constantly. Subscribers can also contribute directly to these organizations through links provided by Simply 40 on their website. Suggestions of other organizations are welcome.

All contributors receive a quarterly report detailing donations.

Simply 40 is a privately held corporation and World Community Trust, who handles donations on the site is the philanthropic part of it but not separate from them.

Simply 40 has a women and men’s section for writers to read various articles by others of their gender such as holistic ways to make your life easier, taking care of the kids, and other topics.

The women who write for the site have submitted pieces that give over 39-year-old women suggestions for a more simplistic and balanced life that is also more rewarding.

There are contributor spotlights regularly from cosmetic surgery articles to decision-making as well as submissions from Canadian writers.
