Ala Moana Center: A Unique Destination for Visitors and Residents Alike

Have you visited the Ala Moana Center lately? Whether you’re a tourist staying at one of Waikiki’s resorts or a local resident of the Honolulu area, Ala Moana Center makes a great destination all year round. Ala Moana Center is a magnificent open-air shopping mall that boasts over 260 stores and venues, and includes some of Hawaii’s premier shopping, entertainment and dining destinations. Spanning over 50 acres, Ala Moana Center is the largest open-air shopping center in the world.

Ala Moana Center, located on Ala Moana Boulveard in Honolulu, features four tremendous department stores, including Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, Sears and Shirokiya. The Ala Moana Center is within walking distance of most Waikiki hotels and is just a 20 minute ride from Honolulu International Airport. So, if you forgot to pack your swimsuit, or if you’re just in the market for a new one, head over to Ala Moana Center and visit Blue Hawaii Surf, Loco Boutique, Pacific Sunwear, Splash! Hawaii, and Maui WaterWear. Need new shades, check out Oakley and the Sunglass Hut at the Ala Moana Center.

My usual detination is Ala Moana Center’s brand new Barnes & Noble Booksellers located at ground level. Prefer music, electronics or video games? Check out Sam Goody, Apple Store, GameStop and Radio Shack.

For top of the line men’s and women’s apparel, Ala Moana Center is the place to shop. AIX Armani Exchange, Emporio Armani, Burberry, Guess, Prada Sport, DKNY, and Chanel are just some of the big names Ala Moana Center has to offer. You can also find a Banana Republic, Gap, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Old Navy.

If you’re looking for accessories, you’ll find what you’re looking for at Alfred Dunhill, Coach, Fendi, Gucci, Hermes, Prada, or Louis Vitton. Fine jewelry is available at big name jewelers such as Bulgari, Cartier, Chanel, Swarovki, and of course, Tiffany & Co. In the market for new shoes? Champs, Footlocker, Nine West and Skechers can all be found at Ala Moana Center.

If you have children (or even if you don’t), be sure to visit the Disney Store, Gap Kids, Gymboree, and Up & Riding. Ala Moana Center also offers a number of salons and shops that sell beauty products.

Whatever your mood, Ala Moana Center has something to satisfy it. And the open-air atmosphere makes strolling through Ala Moana Center a very unique and unforgettable shopping experience. There are also numerous dining opportunities at Ala Moana Center which I’ll be reviewing in the days to come, so check back soon!
