Almay Lone Smoothing Concealer for the Face Versus L’Oreal Visible Lift Eye Line Minimizing Concealer

Under eye concealers have come a long way in the past decade. I am always surprised by the addition of new under eye concealer products that advertise that they will help reduce fine lines around the eye. I love to get double bang for my money and I love to try new products. In the past year I have tried both the Almay Lone Smoothing Concealer For the Face and the L’Oreal Visible Lift Eye Line Minimizing Concealer with varied results.

Coverage

The most important factor I look for in any type of under eye concealer is how well it covers the dark circles under my eyes. I love that both the Almay Lone Smoothing Concealer For the Face and the L’Oreal Visible Lift Eye Line Minimizing Concealer also target fine lines, but coverage is the real reason to buy a concealer. I found that the Almay Lone Smoothing Concealer For the Face did a better job at covering the area under my eyes. I don’t have super dark circles, but they are noticeable, especially when I am tired. It was more matte and covered more thoroughly than the L’Oreal Visible Lift Eye Line Minimizing Concealer.

Application

The Almay Lone Smoothing Concealer For the Face is packaged in a tube with an applicator wand. I do like the applicator wand because I like to dot small circles of concealer under my eyes (and on any other problem areas) and gently blot them into my skin. It seems to provide for better coverage when I apply it this way. The L’Oreal Visible Lift Eye Line Minimizing Concealer comes in a squeezable tube. I usually squeeze a small drop onto my pinky finger and make the dots under my eye that way. Although neither is right or wrong, if you prefer a wand this is something to keep in mind.

Line/ Wrinkle Reducing?

Ok, the real question, after coverage of course, is does it reduce line? I have to admit I never bought either Almay Lone Smoothing Concealer For the Face or L’Oreal Visible Lift Eye Line Minimizing Concealer expecting them to actually reduce any lines. It seems too much to be true to expect this. What I was expecting though was to find an under eye concealer that didn’t cake into any of my existing wrinkles or lines. I found that the Almay Lone Smoothing Concealer For the Face was great looking on, did not cake into my lines, and tended to appear more fresh and natural when compared to the L’Oreal Visible Lift Eye Line Minimizing Concealer. This may be due to the fact that I was able to find a better match in the Almay Lone Smoothing Concealer For the Face. I bought it in Light and it really did match my skin color well. The L’Oreal Visible Lift Eye Line Minimizing Concealer I bought in Fair was not light enough to really give a true match to my fair skin.

Durability

Most under eye concealers just don’t last a long time on me. I am always constantly toughing my face and I wear contacts. This seems to be two arch nemeses to a good concealer lasting a long time udder my eye. I have to say I was surprised when I first applied the Almay Lone Smoothing Concealer For the Face under my eyes and it still looked great that evening. I love any make up that I can apply early in the morning and have it still look good that evening. The L’Oreal Visible Lift Eye Line Minimizing Concealer did last pretty well all day, but I have to say the Almay Lone Smoothing Concealer For the Face definitley lasted longer. It also looked more natural and less visible. It did not look caked on at all.

Price

Affordability is always a factor when buying an under eye concealer. I have to say though, that I would always prefer to spend a little more money and get a better product versus wasting my hard earned money on something less expensive that doe s not do a good job. I am notorious for having separation anxiety with bottles and tubs of unused make up, so I definitely do not need any more additions to my makeup product graveyard underneath the sink. A bottle of Almay Lone Smoothing Concealer For the Face will cost you about $10 while a bottle of Versus L’Oreal Visible Lift Eye Line Minimizing Concealer will also cost our about $10. Both can easily be found in any grocery store or drug store.

Overall, I have to say that I found the Almay Lone Smoothing Concealer For the Face to be a more natural looking product that lasted longer and covered better when compared to the L’Oreal Visible Lift Eye Line Minimizing Concealer.
