Amazing Hotels in Memphis, TN

Memphis, Tennessee is home to many things; probably one of the more prominent exports of this wonderfully eclectic city is the Kind of Rock-n-Roll, Elvis Presley. But little do people know, this city is also home to some of the world most amazing hotels. Through my research and reviews I have come across three absolutely amazing hotels, which you being the world-traveler or vacationing family, mustn’t miss.

The first hotel that I reviewed, and my personal favorite, is the historical Peabody Memphis Hotel. This building contains so much personality – both new and old. This hotel’s doors were first opened in 1925 and from its earliest years, The Peabody has been known as “The South’s Grand Hotel.” Still living up to its title, The Peabody Memphis is home to one of Memphis’s only AAA Four-Diamond awards – which guarantee’s an amazingly elegant and luxurious stay. Along with the various awards, one of the aspects that set this hotel apart from the hundreds of others is the famed Peabody Ducks (more on this later). The Peabody Memphis is located in the business district of Memphis, which makes this hotel phenomenal for business professionals as well as vacationers wanting to make the most of their Memphis stay.

One you enter the lobby, which is decorated in true Southern dÃ?©cor, your eyes are greeted by dark woods, muted yellows and greens, as well as subdued floral patters. One thing that The Peabody boasts is the wide-range of clientele it serves – ranging from professional businessmen and women, to vacationing families. It is through the conversational noise from the hotel’s well taken care of clientele; ones ears pick up on the slight trickle of a water-fountain and the quite, yet beautiful, melodic songs from the piano. All of these factors add up to an amazing atmosphere that is pleasing to all guests.

The hotels main attraction – also amenity – is the daily duck march that takes place like clockwork (or duckwork) at 11am as well as 5 pm. These adorable ducks are local celebrities, they even are given a red carpet to walk upon. Other amenities that guests are able to enjoy include: on-site shopping, fine restaurants – Chez Phillippe, Capricco Restaurant, Capricco CafÃ?©, Capricco Bar and the Lobby Bar – as well as a hip lobby bar. Guests also have immediate access to the nearby Peabody Complex via an interior corridor. Several other amenities include a fitness center, complete with cardiovascular equipment as well as weight-lifting equipment, an indoor pool and spa tub, Gould’s Day Spa, which provides facials and body treatments. Lastly there is a full-service and fully staffed business center available for guests. All together there is over 40 on-site amenities guests of The Peabody Memphis can enjoy. There are several attractions that are extremely close to this hotel: Peabody Place Retail and Entertainment Center, Auto Zone Par, Beale Street, the Memphis Rock-n-Soul Museum, Gibson Guitar Factor and the Fed-Ex Forum. This is only a partial list of all the attractions and entertainment venues that are close to The Peabody Memphis.

This hotel has over 404 guestrooms, all of which are architecturally unique. Each room comes with a 25 inch T.V., antique-style furnishings, multi-line phones, and complimentary newspapers. All together there is over 29 in-room amenities. With such an amazing hotel, one might think that the nightly rate will be through the roof. Well, at the Peabody Memphis Hotel, they believe that you should be able to enjoy the best of service without having to pay outrageous rates. With nightly rates starting at $211.00 for one king or two double beds, this is an extremely affordable hotel – and its not just any hotel, it is the Peabody Memphis Hotel, “The South’s Grand Hotel.”

Secondly, is the always-dependable Hilton Memphis Hotel. This contemporary and modern circular shaped hotel was designed by Memphis Architect Francis Mah and is located in the heart of the east Memphis business district. Though it has always been visually stunning, the hotel just underwent a massive $12 million renovation in 2004.

Once you walk into the lobby, a massive 16-foot funnel-shaped fountain immediately grabs your eyes; even the front desk is completely modernized, by getting rid of the “front-desk” and replacing it with “pods.” These “pods” then rest under giant rectangular cutouts in the wall that feature slowly changing lights. It is quite easily figured out that this hotel is far from normal – an envelope-pushing hotel. The lobby seating is no different either; guests find themselves swimming amongst bold blue and reds throughout the seating areas.

Some of the amenities include Internet access, and both self-parking and valet-parking are free. There is also a courtesy shuttle, which is also complimentary. For guests enjoyment, there is a heated outdoor pool that is opened year-round. A 24-hour fitness center to keep you in shape – even when you’re vacationing; there are two on-site restaurants, and also a very large business center.

There are a total of 404 guestrooms, which are outfitted, in modern-retro furniture. All of the rooms come with a 25-inch Television, two multi-line phones, digital thermostats, and over 20 in-room amenities. Nightly rates fall within the $109.00 for one king or two double beds.

Whenever you step foot into a Hilton Hotel, you know that you are going to have an experience. And this is no different for the Hilton Memphis Hotel – they will deliver.

And lastly is the Marriot Memphis Downtown. This hotel, which is located in downtown Memphis, is the largest hotel in Memphis – with over 600 guestrooms. This three-and-a-half-star hotel is extremely close to attractions and entertainment venues, which makes it a fine choice for families as well as business professionals. It is also adjoined to the Memphis Convention Center on its mezzanine level.

With over 600 guestrooms and over 16 meeting rooms, this is truly a mammoth hotel. A casual restaurant serves all meals while a cocktail lounge serves lunch and dinner. There are numerous amenities, which include: an on-site fitness center, equipped with cardiovascular equipment and weight-lifting equipment, an indoor pool, a sundeck, as well as Valet (surcharge) with unlimited in out privileges. The nightly rates go for under $179.00 per night for one king or two double beds. Along with numerous in-room amenities, a complimentary newspaper is available Monday through Friday. Out of hundreds of Memphis hotels, The Marriot Memphis Downtown is the ideal choice for families as well as business professionals.
