An Ode to West Chester, Pennsylvania

As a recent college graduate now aspiring professional, there comes a time when I need to get away from life’s burdensome hassles and vacate to an area where I can have fun. Whenever I have to escape life’s mundane responsibilities and re-vamp my inner being, it is without a doubt I head to downtown West Chester, Pennsylvania. This cozy little suburb that is bordered by the city of Philadelphia Pennsylvania has much to offer and a bevy of good times.

Full of oak and elm trees tall enough to kiss the sky, its crowded sidewalks are filled with life and laughter seven days a week. The coffee shops on every corner fill the air with such an enriching aroma. Most boutiques are inspired by and filled with trendy bohemian fashions and will catch anyone’s eye. West Chester’s restaurants are to die for. The Spence CafÃ?© and Iron Hill Brewery are without a doubt on top of my list. Ricky’s Parlor has the best old fashioned ice cream, while Madd Platter has all the classic and latest LP’s as soon as they arrive.

The parks are full of children playing and basking in their innocent youth-this alone touches the hearts of all who pass by. By foot I commonly bump into joggers jamming to their I Pods or college students from the University walking their dogs or talking on cell phones. If ever I need to relieve stress, the beloved YMCA serves as home to all who aspire to get in shape and stay healthy. This gym is the most popular because of the down to earth feel and of course its flattering neighborhood location. It sits in the center of the town’s borough and is by far the busiest gym.

By day my town is a sea of comfort, recreational areas, multitudes of family life and unique culture. By night it is vibrant and bright. The modern day lounges and grilles draw people in from neighboring towns. I love West Chester because I can catch up on old times with girlfriends in the afternoon, and go dancing; savoring in the cool nights overlooked by starry skies once the sun goes down. There is something for everyone here. Day or night, night or day, this is my town, this is my home. For me, West Chester is experiencing the beauty of life, if you’re lucky you might just come visit!
