MIPTV, which opens in Cannes April 3 to 7, is a trade event for professionals from the audiovisual industry and features another industry event, MILIA. The “Writers Bloc Presents…” series features political satirist Mort Sahl in conversation with “Curb Your Enthusiasm” director Bob Weide, for its April 3 event happening in Beverly Hills. This year the 2006 Mobile Entertainment Summit takes place across the street from the CTIA Wireless convention in Las Vegas on April 4, hosting a deal-making environment between content owners and distributors surveying the hottest trends for mobile content and applications. The Mobile Entertainment Party happens April 6 at venue The Beach. For the 37th Annual Gospel Music Association Music Awards in Nashville, ticket holders will be invited to a special artist meet-and-greet the week of the awards show on April 5. BMI Latin Music Awards, taking place in New York on April 7, is a black-tie, invitation-only awards dinner and ceremony honoring songwriters, composers and music publishers.

The 3-day Scriptwriters Showcase starting April 7 in Universal City, is a conference and marketplace hosted by Final Draft and scr(i)pt magazine. For the 2 day “Hollywood Comes to Albuquerque New Mexico”, produced Hollywood screenwriter, Ted Perkins, presents his seminar in Albuquerque illustrating a complete guide on how to develop, pitch, write, finance, produce and sell a first film. The “Philadelphia Chapter Recording Academy Honors 2006”, on April 10 in Philadelphia, opens with a VIP/press reception and silent auction followed by The Recording Academy Honors show and dinner. At the April 20 Academy of Country Music Songwriters Party songwriters are welcome to come and celebrate #1 songs from January 2005 to February 2006, and have a chance to win a trip to the 41st annual Academy of Coutry Music Awards, all happening in Nashville. ASCAP announces the launch of the ASCAP “I Create Music” EXPO, a major entertainment industry conference 100% dedicated to songwriter/composer music creation, and running April 20 to 22 in Los Angeles. For its “90 Minutes OnEarth” showcase Absurd Machine Films is inviting you to participate in a global filmmaking opportunity. On April 22, 2006 between 3:00 pm and 4:30 pm GMT people from all walks of life can share in the independent filmmaking spirit.

Absurd Machine is asking you to contribute a short video clip of whatever you like, anything you want to show to the world at that moment, the subject matter and content are up to you. If your clip is used in the final film, you will be notified and credited for your contribution. National Association of Broadcasters conference and electronics media show happens this year from April 22 to 27 in Las Vegas. This month’s London-based BMI/Club Fandango Musical Showcase on April 27, features Lorraine, The Voom Blooms and The New Cassettes. During the run of the New Orleans Jazz And Heritage Festival, which happens April 28 to 30, and again, May 5 to 7, celebrates the indigenous music and culture of New Orleans and Louisiana, happening in New Orleans. MusExpo 2006 tackles the most pressing and controversial facets of the global music business, as well as provide networking opportunities for musicians and executives in the music industry when it conducts sessions April 30 to May 3 in Los Angeles.
